Next day we were in another trial, and this time I passed. The picture shows me in the middle of the Recall where I have to run to Keith as quickly as I can. I am in mid-air in the photo, showing how fast I can run.
After the trial I was given a ribbon and a certificate. I need 2 more certificates to get the letters CCD after my name. Not bad at 14 months, Keith took 20 years to get letters after his name!
I haven't seen your blog for months and months and I can't believe how much my Archer looks like Tiffany! Archer is 6 1/2 months and is from the litter of Rio and Cherry. He is our constant companion, loves the beach and dog park daily! We are hopefully visiting Elaine soon so Archer can play with his doggy family. Tiffany is a credit to your love and dedication. Kind regards, Michelle. PS We are interested in agility, any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle
ReplyDeleteArcher will need to be 12 months old before you can start training in agility with the Agility Dog Club of SA, other clubs have similar restrictions. The reason is to ensure the dog's bones have 'set' enough to take the load of jumping. (Dog's bones are soft during their growing period and do not fully set until around 18 months old, depending on the dog)
In the mean time, basic obedience will help with getting the dog used to following commands and also teaching you how to give them.
Thank you, I will continue nurturing Archer until he is 12 months, and we will join the Agility dog club then. Thanks for the reply. Michelle.
